Energy Navigator donates over $21,000 to food banks and families
December 15, 2016
Calgary, AB, Canada, December 15, 2016 – Oil and gas software maker Energy Navigator is doing its part this holiday season to help those in need. Between staff fundraising efforts and corporate donations, the company has now contributed more than CDN$21,000 to charitable organizations in Calgary, Houston, and Denver.
“We know that more and more people are finding it necessary to rely on food banks to make ends meet,” said Executive Vice President Michael Jegen. “And the holiday season makes that even more difficult. We wanted to do something that would help ease that pressure for families at this time of year, so once again we have participated in an adopt-a-family program in addition to contributing to food banks in Calgary, Houston, and Denver.”
Throughout November, staff at Energy Navigator’s Calgary office personally contributed an average of more than $60.00 each through in-office fundraisers and payroll deductions. The company’s shareholders, Mr. Boyd Russell and Mr. Mike Seth, each matched employee efforts, bringing the total raised to $9,531 – enough to supply gifts and grocery gift cards to 10 large families (a total of 62 people) through Calgary Closer To Home Community Services. In addition to raising funds, company staff volunteered to shop for and deliver the gifts.
Executive Assistant Ashley Bettcher, who coordinated the adopt-a-family effort, is proud of her co-workers’ contributions. “I grew up in a family that needed a little help from time to time. So it means a lot to be part of a company that’s willing to do more than just write a cheque.”
Calgary staff collect food for the food bank all year and, today, Energy Navigator also joined members of Calgary’s tech community by contributing $6,500 (enough to buy about 2,826 pounds, or 4 pallets, of food) toward a grand total of $238,836.70 in cash raised by YYC Tech Gives for Calgary Food Bank. In the USA, Energy Navigator has also made donations of USD$2,500 each to Denver’s Food Bank of the Rockies and the Houston Food Bank.Return
